PLAY:
What is Pickleball?
A sport played on a mini tennis sized court with a paddle and special ball. Pickleball is suited for both singles and doubles.
Basic rules and lingo include:
- Serving: Underarm Only
- No Volley Zone: The area at the net is the no volley zone. If the ball bounces in that area you can play it, but you may not stand in the zone while hitting a volley.
- Scoring: The first player or team to 11 points in a set takes the set. Serving rotates between players.
- Dink: It’s a soft shot just over the net that bounces in the no volley zone. Similar to a drop shot in tennis.
- ATP: Around the post is when you hit around the net post. The net is relatively close to the court lines and these shots can occur regularly.
At Picklers Park we try keep it interesting. We have devised a number of formats and games. The rules may vary for some of these. We advise you to always check the relative house and competition rules before playing.
